Birthday Baked Beans
What a kick off to our recipe page! I'm by now means Alton Brown or Julia Child, but these beans are my thing (that I ripped off from Kenz!)! They're tasty, tasty and really easy (hence them being "my thing!"). They're my homemade baked beans that we made for Carter's birthday party. Enjoy!
1 pound lean ground hamburger (93/7)
1/2 package bacon (NOT turkey bacon, per Andy!)**
2 large cans of baked beans (I use Hy-Vee beans with brown sugar already added)
1 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 tsp mustard (or as much, or little, as you prefer)
1. Brown hamburger; drain.
2. Cook bacon; dab off excess grease and crumb**
3. Combine ALL ingredients in a large crock pot and stir well. Leave on low for 3 hours, then enjoy!
** You can also use Bacon-Bits and such **
