... or at least we're on the way to being one!
This afternoon we officially started dance class. Remember over the summer, Carter took a community education tap class that didn't go so well. So we were a little skiddish about dance class. After talking with Miss Evie at Encore Dance Studio, we decided to brave it (after all, today's class was a "freebie!" Thanks, that means I'll be paying for the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas when we aren't having class! Boo!). Yesterday we went to the Dance Boutique and Carter picked out tights and a new dance bag. She was very excited to start this afternoon!
I dropped her off and watched from the doorway. She skipped into class and happily sat in the circle with Miss Evie and her classmates. She got the first spot on the dance floor, and I heard Miss Evie compliment her a few times (teacher speak says that you always compliment the naughty kid to counteract their mischevious behavior. I didn't see the off-task behavior, so I'm assuming it didn't happen and Miss Evie just thinks she really IS the best dancer in class :) ).
The first half of class is 20 minutes of tap. The second part is 25 minutes of ballet. Pair this with Triad (beginning next Monday with our pal Elisa) and we've got the next Shawn Johnson on our hands! You know, Shawn started gymnastics when she was 3, too!

Carter Kay, dancer and ballerina in practice! Thanks to Natalie and Mackenzie for the hand-me-down dance outfit. Miss Evie loved it, which made Carter beam!, and said she'd never seen one like that before! Carter was tickled purple!

Miss Evie (standing) and her "big girl" assistant (in black) get the girls ready for dance. Carter didn't flinch or seem to dislike class at all. In fact, she whined and teared up a bit when class was over. We LOVE dance!
