Today we had Carter's big birthday party. It's bittersweet, really. It's always so much fun to have all of our friends and family over to chat and play, but it marks the end of a big year for our favorite girl. But, I guess another fun-filled, adventuresome year ahead of us, too!
Our house was packed with family and friends, and Carter and crew had a blast! We played for awhile, then Andy grilled lunch. We had (and played in!) cake, and then everyone headed to the slip and slide and outdoor fun. Unfortunately, our young crowd began to get crabby and we weren't able to open gifts until later (THANK YOU SO MUCH everyone! She's such a spoiled little gal!), but we're very thankful everyone came to help us celebrate and enjoy the day! We're lucky to have amazing friends and family and one brilliant and beautiful little girl!

No more pictures! Carter ADORES Olivia and Isaac - she's connected them as a "pair" in her mind. "I miss Isaac and Olivia!" So I thought it would be cute to get a picture of the 3 Amigo's together. Isaac was itching to run and Olivia was so beyond pictures at that point! But Carter's loving the attention!
Like it or not, Olivia's getting a hug! Carter loves this girl!
Emma Lou (aka Emma Lueck, I just like the sound of Emma Lou) and Carter Kay. The don't get to see much of each other, but Carter picks her out almost immediately in pictures! Maybe it's a connection, like Carrie and I have!
We squeezed in a couple gifts before everyone left. Zach, Steph and Isaac got Carter a few cutie-pie shirts and an Elmo sprinkler (approved by Isaac himself!). And Uncle Corey and Aunt Amber got her a TAG book and animal cards ... and a recorder she refers to as her "tuba." She plays it at it's absolute TOP VOLUME and taps her foot along to her own loud beat! Thanks guys!!
