Kelsey and the boys made a special trip to Ankeny to spend the day with us for Carter's birthday. We headed to Recess (think Chuck E. Cheese, but with more lights and crack!) for the morning. Since Ankeny started school Thursday, we pretty much had the place to ourselves, and our mini-me's ran all over! We had a blast hanging, running, jumping, climbing and riding everything! We even played some games and won prizes! Super fun!
For lunch, we grabbed Palmer's and met Shane at the house. We enjoyed tasty sandwiches (I totally recommend the #8, Market Turkey with Hooty Creek cookie!!! YUM!) and played catch up (it's been TOO LONG since I've seen Shane!) while the kids nibbled Lunch-ables and ran off to play. Kelsey us special krispies with M&M's in them (birthdays rule!), and Carter got a super birthday gift: a cool, kid-friendly clock that she loves! She's carted it all over the house since Friday!
We had a great time! THANKS GUYS, for making the trip up! It really isn't that far, but making the journey means a lot to us! And we couldn't have had a more perfect day. Thanks for starting the birthday weekend of right! We LOVE you guys!

Grant, Carter and Collin playing at Palmer's. Who need entertainment when you've got THIS?!!

Carter, Grant and Collin - YOU try getting all 3 together and smiling! Good luck!

Toot! Toot! The birthday girl gets the first train ride!

Chuga-chuga ... Grant hops on for a ride around the Recess track

Collin trucks his way up into the little house, but not before flashing me that too-cute smile! We're buddies now!

Collin and Carter attempt to toddler-DDR. Unfortunately they have little coordination and no dance skills at this point (like Carter's going to have any at ANY point!)!

Three under-3's + skeebal = disaster???

Peek-a-Boo!

Maybe Carter's airplane rides at Recess will inspire her to become an airline pilot one day?

C A R T E R I S A R O B O T !

Kelsey attempting to help the crew play basketball, while the crew is only interested in who can climb the highest on the game and how many baskets they can make!

At some point, you had to expect them to outsmart the game! Why toss the ball and miss when you can crawl up the ramp and put it where you want it?!! Duh!

Carter's birthday booty: a great clock. She's already trying to figure it out: "It's 20 o'clock, Mommy!" when the red hour hand was on the 4 (it had a little blue 20 printed in smaller print to show the minutes!). She gets partial credit for that one!

These are a few of my favorite things!

The Bumsted/Chalupa crew: Carter, Kelly, Collin, Kelsey and Grant
THANKS for spending the day with us, Bumsted's! Here's to the next one (ahh-cho!)!!
