The Star Bar and The Garden = Happiness and Wonderfulness ... and barf

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Andy, Tim and I, and Kristy (I hope it's Kristy with a Y!  Sorry if it's not!)and Carrie, friends of Tim's, met up for a night on the town.  We started at the Star Bar downtown.  I am a Star Bar newbie - I heart it lots!  It's a mix of kinda loud, kinda quiet, kinda smoky and dirty yet kinda clean.  I give it 3 (out of 4) stars).  The food was just okay for me: "really well done" doesn't not mean "a little pink" on the inside.  That part made me want to barf a little, but I managed.  The fries were really good, and the Comso, excellent!  Tim totally got his money's worth out of his "have splash of Coke with Rum" Rum and Coke!  Don't light a match, Tim will ignite!

From there, we went to The Garden.  This was also a new bar for me.  Now, I must confess a story from my past.  In high school, I had this crush/relationship deal with a guy named Cory.  He was an okay guy, but some bad stuff went down, and we haven't spoken since then.  I've heard through high school friends that he's been in Arizona and Oregon or something, I don't know.  Over Gay Pride week, in 2002, Kelsey, her mom Teresa, and their good, gay friend KB, and I went to Studio 13 for the Drag Queen show to support Gay Pride.  We were having a good time, dancing, talking, watching the show.  I noticed a couple guys making out, and then realized that one of the was the afore-mentioned Cory.

That being said, gay establishments do not shock me.  After that, little does.  Gay bars are actually pretty sweet: everyone is super nice, the music is good and loud, and it's a blast.  At straight bars, everyone's looking to get lucky, and it's gross.  I could have walked into The Garden stark-naked, and none of the guys would have even looked twice!  It's awesome!

Anyway, we had a couple drinks (sidebar: Sex on the Beach at The Garden = bad news.  It tasted like what I image the inside of a toilet would taste like!  Gross!), danced, watched the Drag Queen Show, and met some neat, new people:  "Todd DSM" and "Nutt-sack Jeff."  Both were very nice, and seemed like good guys.  They lived up to what I'd heard about them - the good things and the odd things!

Andy had a few too many drinks, and barfed by some van on the way out.  And Kristy and Carrie's cab never did come.  Other than that, the night was awesome!  I had a blast, and look forward to going again!

If I were Tim, I'd totally have been sick of us by this point!  Sorry, Tim!
