That being said, here is our Punky!  Isn't she the best?!?

Happy Memorial Day!

Goodness Gracious!  What a day it's been!  Carter is now fluently mobile, which means she's moving, and she's quick!  We (literally, maybe!) have a ton of toys scattered all over the house: blocks, a bandstand, three stackers, books galore.  What has Carter chosen to play with today???  A can of paint, a decorative picture frame from the shelf, and every single speck of dust, dirt, and junk on the floor!  She can spot things she's not supposed to have amazingly well, and then beeline for that very same object!  It's insanity!

Since she's so active (compared to the lazy blob she was two months ago!), she's napping about every three hours.  She fights and fights, then crashes and sleeps for about an hour.  Then, look out world, here she comes!

behind bars

After a nap, it's on to the big, bold world!  First up, crawling!  Carter is a pro!  If your little one is in need of assistance, please let Carter know.  She's a master-teacher: it's in her blood!

 crawl

Next item on the agenda: crawl to the wall, mount the steps/shelves, pull down the pretty picture frames, and try and pry the electrical socket from the wall.  And you can tell by the look on her face, she fully understands "no."

shelf

We also made cookies today!  What a harmless task, right?  You're wrong!  I gave Carter the lid to the flour to play with: she played with the flour.  I gave her the scooper to look at: she flung dough all over her toes.  I sat the spray next to her to look at: she tried to eat it.  I'm sure Emeril has better assistants than this!

After such a long, hard day of being 9 months old, a girl gets tired.  She might not want to admit it.  And she might fight to the bitter end, losing to a nice, cozy crib.  "Might?"  Try "definately!"

(still think she's "sweet" and "innocent"?  I think she's a beast!)

Going to the Farm

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

We visited Grandma and Grandpa Chalupa today at the farm.  Carter took the grand tour to see the crops, the garden, and she even got to taste her first strawberry!  She loved it!

Carter and Grandma, playing with the pottery cup!

Carter has been experimenting with pulling herself up to a kneeling position with the assistance of stationary objects.  This evening, her "object" was the laundry (clean!) basket, full of clothes. She pulled herself up, then sat.  Up and down, up and down.  It was a more challenging task with Daddy's sock on!

Look out, Sammy!

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Game on!  Carter is officially on the go, and she's got her sights set on Sammy.  I guess you could call this payback for all those times he sat about three inches out of her reach, and taunted her with his fluffy tail.  You know what they say about paybacks ...

Emma Jacqueline Lueck

Emma is now about 7 months old.  She's becoming mobile, and has an "evil smile."  She might be "evil," but she's adorable!

Isaac Middle-Name-We-Can't-Remember Alexander (sorry ... we are so dumb!)

Isaac is now 6 months old.  He's exploring the world of foods: cereal, greenie beanies (remember the greenie-beanie bearded pirate??), and carrots.  Ahhh ... good times.  You've got to love those big blue eyes!

PS ... Andy thinks it's "Zachary," but I think he's full of crap!

Grant & Collin Bumsted, aka "The Twins"  Both are doing fantastically!  Grant is the "lazy one," and Collin is the "mover and shaker."  Both are developing their own little personalities.  Both got their first taste of rice cereal Sunday.  Apparentely, Collin is about to eat Kelsey & Shane out of house and home!  Little piglets! football

Holy Hell! Let there be DECK!

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks
And, on the 8th day, there was deck! Okay ... so it's more like day 428, but whatever! We have a sturdy, stable platform with a fence-like boundary to keep us taller folk from falling off. Yes, we've (and by "we've," I mean "Andy") got some more work, but it's getting there! Bring on beers on the deck! Woo hoo! deck

Grouch-Ass

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Carter has been a GROUCH-ASS! She was fussy ALL DAY Sunday, crying and carrying on, very un-Carter like. We're chalking it up to teething. She's yanking on her ears and hair, chewing on everything, and drooling way too much. I guess it could also be that nasty diaper rash, also a "side-effect" of teething, that is pissing her off. I'd be mad, too, if my butt were blazing red and bumpy (a "yeast infection" is what the Doctor is calling it. The FGF and I refer to it as "making dough-nuts." Charming, I know ...). Despite this whole ordeal, Carter's still able to maintain her "cheeser" smile, and "oh the humanity!" hand-to-head pose. What a cheeser!!

Mom's Flowers

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Because it was so cold last Sunday for Mother's Day, I got my gift a little late. Carter and Andy and I went to Menard's, and I picked out garden flowers for the back garden. We picked Gerber Daisies (my FAVORITE!), Vicas, Pansies, Shasta Daisies, and Blue Ritz butterfly flowers. I plotted things out, and Carter and Andy supervised. Carter even got her hands dirty! dad mom dirt plant

That was the sickest thing ... ever ...

Carter and I had spent all night playing together. We played with the musical, stacking stars, we practiced standing and crawling, and even played a game of slow-tag! It was great! We snuggled in for bed, and I read "Alice in Wonderland" while she had her nightly bottle. Andy and Tim popped by around 8:20, and THANK GOD they did! Carter was playing on my lap, facing me, and heaved, then barfed all over me! She smiled, and I sat in throw up, then did it AGAIN! And she smiled the entire time! And I'm not talking about a little unpleasant spit-up; this was T H R O W U P ! Not only were my jeans soaked, but my underwear were, too! But, Punky was happy with herself! puke

Happy 9 months!

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Today, May 19th, is Punky's 9 month birthday! 9 months of "firsts" and new experiences - for her and for us! She's done fantastically in her first 9 months! She's always happy, except for her "evil hour" every afternoon! She's mobile, which I'm still unsure about, but is moving none-the-less. She's eating food on her own, and is beginning to eat some table food. She's a chatter (where that came from, I'll never know!), and I SWEAR she said "ball" the other night! She has favorites, things she dispises, and people she loves more than anything. She's a little PERSON now! Spunky and sweet, perfect to a T. Our first 9 months have been precious and irreplaceable - I wouldn't change ONE SECOND of it! baby! Mama! box

That's hilarious!

Carter's a smart one, alright! She's figured out that crawling = mobility! Which is great ... right? She's crawling everywhere, and wants to check out everything. So when she crawled under the bed, we let her. What harm could it cause? It's just under the bed (yeah, like the Great Abiss ...). She was fine under the bed, then we heard "clunk," and crying. She had gotten herself directly beneath the wooden bed frame, and was trying to get up to crawling position. She'd bang her head, and then get mad and frustrated. Andy and I, however, laughed at her repeated efforts/mild head traumas! YES ... we did help her out ... eventually ... bed

Super ... not even 9 months old, and we're trying to call Mexico. Fabulous ... we've created a monster! phone
My 8th graders are preparing for their first-ever finals. I have been trying to write a comprehensive, yet manageable final. I guess I got some "input" from a "younger generation!" final number 8 is C

Huh ... who knew we'd be too busy to keep up with a website? I sure didn't see that one coming! Andy has done a massive reformat that is "Kelly-friendly," so now I can upload and blog (or "b-log!") to my heart's content (and I will!). My first item of business: catching everyone up on the happenings in the life of Carter (known as "Tarter Tay Talupa" to Kaitlin at the daycare!). I am documenting some of the biggest (and the cutest!) events of the past three months. I'm sure you'll notice that she's ungone some important changes! Enjoy! I'll do my best to keep it up! Hearts! Kelly PS ... by the way ... did I mention I met Kenny Chesney??? Yeah, we're good pals now! Isn't he adorable?! Our good pal, Kenny Chesney

Welcome to the new Chalupas.net!

The site has changed quite a bit.  I've joined the rest of the world in 2006 and switched to a 'blog' format for the website.  Hopefully this will more easily allow others to update the website on their own so I don't have to be a middle-man.  I anticipate Kelly will be doing lots of updates to the website now, which is good since I'm not exactly a wordy or expressive person.

You'll see two links over on the right-hand side of this page.  Click on "Andy, Kelly & Carter" to see pictures of us.  Click on "Brian, Anna & Courtney" to see the pictures currently available for Courtney.  I'll be continuing to make changes to the site so that Brian and Anna can upload pictures and post blog entries.

Look ma, I'm mobile!!

May 13, 2006: Lock it ALL UP, Carter's mobile! She's crawling for the stacker stars, to get things she knows she shouldn't have (she has a firm understanding of "no!"), and towards the nearest person! We spent all morning practicing, and she's got the hang of it! I put her 9am bottle on the floor, and made her work for it: she crawled from the purple chairs to the banister ... she was pissed, but she finally got her just desserts: a nice, warm bottle, and a loving mommy to feed her! null12 3 4

The green-eyed monster??

May 10, 2006: She may be green, but she's certainly no monster! Carter, Andy and I played outside for awhile. She's amazed by the leaves, grass, and twigs, and loves playing with and sticking them in her mouth! Green

May 7, 2006: The cutest thing about this picture is that it's Carter - look at her, she just seethes sweetness and trouble! But the second cutest thing is the sweater: I wore it when I was little like her! Grandma Carol brought it up before Carter was born, and Andy randomly pulled out a sweater on this cold morning. When I got out of bed, and came out to see Andy and Carter playing, it was such a sweet surprise to see her in MY little sweater! She's so precious! sweater

What a fun afternoon!

May 6, 2006: Carter is OUT OF CONTROL today! I got some new toys for her: a rolly thing that makes sounds and lights up (ADD-delight!), and a musical stacker (double the ADD, double the fun!!), and Carter LOVED them! She was amazed by the rolly thing, and had more fun WEARING the star stackers than STACKING them! Look out for falling stars, ha ha ha! As we were playing with the stars, Carter would try to get up and crawl to get the stars she threw. I think she was really trying to crawl AWAY from me, not TO the stars! Whatever - so long as she CRAWLS!!! After a long afternoon of playing, she needed some "Daddy time" on Andy's shoulders. And, of course, she drooled in his hair. I guess it could have been worse ... at least it wasn't throw up! fun1 fun2fun3 fun4
